Your Ultimate Holiday Guide to North Stradbroke Island 🌴 🌴

Updated: Apr 15, 2020

Only a forty minute ferry from Brisbane, will take you to one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations - North Stradbroke Island. With so much to do and see, it is nearly impossible to experience it all in one trip. That is why we have given you our top three experiences that are essential when visiting the island.

Wrapped around the rugged cliffs of Stradbroke Island, the North Gorge walk will capture your heart and leave you with memories you will never forget. The boardwalk is 1.2kms long and has many allocated lookouts along the way. Home to many of the local wildlife - kangaroos, turtles, dolphins, manta rays, sharks and whales - once spotted, you will not want to leave. This walk stole our hearts and only left us wanting more. Everyday we stopped in for a “quick” visit, only to be leaving hours later. A magical spot to start or end your day as you sit above the ocean and take in the beauty that surrounds you.

A hidden treasure, The Keyholes is a beautiful freshwater lagoon, which will leave you feeling reenergised after a dip. Located behind the sand dunes of Main Beach, this out of sight gem is the perfect spot to lay back and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Island. Grab your paddle board or kayak and explore what the lagoon has to offer. With plenty of picnic spots to choose from, you can have a piece of this paradise for the day without bumping into anyone else. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Island, this scenic spot is your calling - you’re welcome.

Amity Point has a vibe like no other place on the island - there is something here for everyone to enjoy. The jetty is a popular spot to cast a line and catch a feed (unless you’re Austin who has no hope). Be sure to keep an eye out for all the different species of rays and other marine life that thrive underneath the jetty. For those who like a good adrenaline rush, you can perfect your signature flips as you jump off the jetty’s pillars into the deep blue sea.

The calm waters off the bay and a large swimming enclosure makes it a safe spot for a splash in the water. Be warned, the clear, pristine water makes it nearly impossible to hop out. Grab some cheese and wine and nestle into the best spot on the island to watch the sunset - the dolphins think so as well! With plenty of things to do in close proximity, this is an ideal spot to rest and relax for the day with the family.
